Welcome to homepage of Röölä and the Röölä village!

Former name of the Röölä village was Röödilä.


Röölä is a lovely, small coastal village located in South-West Finland, in the archipelago of Naantali. Röölä just as the nearby situated Rymättylä village has a long history of herring fishing traditions. Formerly Röölä was the best-known herring harbour of Finland. The area of Rymättylä is regionally well-known for its potatoes’ fields. The Rymättylä village is situated only 4 km from Röölä.

The Small Archipelago trail of Turku goes through both the villages Röölä and Rymättylä. The distance from Röölä to Naantali, the municipality centre is 20 km. The Turku Archipelago trail passes by Naantali. The distance from Röölä to Turku is 38 km.

Röölä village with its only one hundred permanent residents has a rich heritage of culture and time-honoured herring fishing tradition.

Under the auspices of the local committee - Röölän Kylätoimikunta, there is the only Herring museum in Finland, named “Dikseli”. At the small shop of the museum Museokauppa, besides the famed herring products, there are local crafts, thematic books and souvenirs on offer.

Röölä is also known for the summer theater “Dikselin Näyttämö”, the old Mill museum “Myllymuseo” (address: Rööläntie 394, 21150 Röölä), the village’s get-together room “Röölän Kylähuone” (address: Rööläntie 375, 21150 Röölä).

In Röölä, there is a guest harbour also.

The harbour’s pontoon pier has moorings, buoy / side attachment. Depth: 2,5 - 5,0.

The guest harbour’s pier has electricity supply point; there is also a water point and a septic tank, as well as diesel fuel vending machine for boats.

The harbour fee 15 € is payable at the harbour restaurant “Ravintola Röölänranta”. Here you can book your sauna. Price: 20 € / h.For boaters visiting the Röölä shore shortly and not staying at the harbour overnight, there is no harbour fee.


At the shore, there is a waste disposal (sorting) place for glass, paperboard, wastepaper, metal only. The disposal place is not for solid waste. From the shore a few steps away, there is a mailbox, the Föli bus stop from/to Naantali and Turku, a bike rack, bike self-service point and a parking place. Travellers visiting Röölä by caravan homes can stay here overnight.


The Small Archipelago trail continues from the Röölä village to the Hanka port. During the summer, a ferry boat m/s Östern cruises to the Seili island and archipelago town Nauvo.
